The Mentoring Facility
Our mentoring facility is located at the Hill-Top Model School, along David Mark Road, Maitumbi, Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. It is known as Hill-Top Art Centre or just Art Centre. The Niger State Ministry of Education, recently ceded a piece of land to the foundation to build an administrative block, a block of three classrooms for instruction, a writers’ residency, a library attached to a hall. The foundation is currently looking for sponsors of these projects. Meanwhile, below are the existing units in the present accommodation:
The Theatre is the heart of the Centre with a stage and attractive walls and lightings. It houses the Coordinator’s office and the section ‘B’ of the Library Literati. Over the years, it has served as the purpose of receiving Guest writers, Saturday training for teen authors, newspaper reading, leadership and citizenship training, and other activities. The Theatre is like the ‘main bowl’ where members unite as artists of common destiny, gleefully expressing their minds through its liberal and inspiring atmosphere. Its capacity is between 1 – 60 members.
The Library Literati is a room where members are engaged in compulsory reading. It is attached to the main theatre. All members of Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation must read a book a week. The books are sourced from well-wishers as well as those published by the foundation. Our library has a Room B within the mini theatre with a big shelf. The main library is small; therefore, an extension is created for it.
The office space within the mini theatre is for the Coordinator of the Art Centre, MuniratO. Suleiman, who is a staff of Hill-Top Model School. The coordinator oversees the Centre. She safeguards the facilities and manages affairs in it, daily, based on the programmes. The Coordinator is the assistant to the Director of the Art Centre. All other Management Team and mentors are volunteers who are not staff of Hill-Top Model School, Minna.
Sakiwa Muse Dome (a painting studio)
Sakiwa Muse Dome is one of the oldest facilities at the Hill-Top Creative Arts Foundation. It has produced young painters over the years. It is managed by Awwal Abdullahi Sakiwa from the start of the Centre. It is a developing arena that will become fully equipped with modern materials for painting.
Creativity Garden (Yard 90)
The garden is an L-Shape environment called ‘Yard 90’ outside the theatre. The space is for relaxation, public speaking, performance and other outdoor activities. A beautiful fence carves out the space and the centre. Many programmes take place there, as well.
